Bodega Y Cavas de Weinert Cavas de Weinert

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The grapes were grown on the Luján de Cuyo and Tupungato Vineyards.
  • The winemaker is Hubert Weber, Bodega Y Cavas de Weinert’s main oenologist.

Varietal Composition: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Malbec, and 20% Merlot

Tasting Notes: Wine of great personality, of dark red color with violet sparkles and brown shades that come from the variaties that composes it. With a deep and persistent aroma of red fruits, it is a harmonious and complex wine in flavor. Its attack in the mouth is of pleasant sweetness, opening itself with a good tannic balance, of acidity and alcohol. It has a long and soft finish.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Bodega Y Cavas de Weinert is located in Luján de Cuyo, a small town on the outskirts of the city of Mendoza, in western Argentina. It sits at the foot of the Andes Mountains in a region world-famous for its wine production, in particular for the Malbec grape. The winery was founded in 1975 by Don Bernardo Weinert, a Brazilian of German origin. With “wein,” the German word for wine as part of his name, it seemed inevitable that Don Bernardo would make it his life’s work.

His fascination with wine prompted him to take on an extensive and difficult restoration of an old, but architecturally significant winery, originally built in 1890 by a Spanish family. He was joined in the venture by Rául de la Mota, the father of modern Argentinian winemaking, and named the country’s best oenologist of the 20th Century.
