Brandborg Fleur de Lis

Brandborg Fleur de Lis

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Cool climate coastal wines from a unique winegrowing region in Oregon.
  • Brandborg is committed to sustainable farming and winemaking practices.

Varietal Composition: 100% White Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Brought the fruit into the winery very cold in the early morning and whole cluster pressed this lot. Then, the juice is settled and racked into a mix of older neutral French oak barrels and the large format puncheons for fermentation. The wine is aged on the yeast lees, surlies aging. This plus the small percentage of new French oak adds a pleasing spice component and enhances the mouthfeel. The wine is a golden straw color.

Tasting Notes: The aromas have stone fruit notes, white pear, with some Rainier cherry, wild herbs, jasmine and fragrant honeysuckle. These fruit flavors are apparent on tasting with a nice savory crispness helping to round out the white fruit flavors. The wine is fairly big and round in the mouth.

“Opening with a slightly earthy aroma, this offers a mix of bee pollen, apple and butter flavors, with that musky character continuing on through. It’s smooth and subtly different from any other white wine you might pair it with, and makes an excellent ringer in any flight of Chardonnays.” –  Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast
