WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Casa Santos Lima Confidential Red is a Vinho Regional Lisboa wine.
  • The grapes are grown in Clay and limestone soils.
  • The use of two types of oak (French & Portuguese) imparts complexity and fine texture that is rare to find in its class.

Varietal Composition: Red Blend – More than 10 “Confidential” varieties

Elaboration: Pressing after total destemming. Fermentation in 26.500 liters vats, with programmable pumping over system and temperature control at 64 º F – 86 º F. Skin contact maceration and (submerged) cap for 28 days. Six months of partial aging in 250 liters barriques of French and Portuguese oak.

Tasting Notes: This wine shows great diversity of complex aromas, such as red fruits and vanilla. Medium body in the mouth, it reveals again sensations of red fruit, harmoniously integrated with wood notes and fine tannins provided by ageing in 250 litres oak barriques. In the aftertaste, develops smooth and rich flavors, some acidity and complexity, overcoming ripe fruit, chocolate and wood notes. Its dryness and persistence, combined with its fine elegant tannins, put in evidence its great gastronomic and evolution potential. A wine to keep.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Casa Santos Lima was created to ensure the continuous development of Santos Lima’s wine producing activity first established several generations ago. This was first started by Joaquim Santos Lima, who, by the turn of 19th century, was already a great producer and exporter of Portuguese wines. Maria João Santos Lima and José Luís Santos Lima Oliveira da Silva, granddaughter and great grandson of the founder, relaunched Casa Santos Lima in 1990, replanting most of the vines, improving agricultural techniques and modernizing all its productive structure. Since 1996, Casa Santos Lima, started bottling its own brands , which immediately achieved great success both in national and international markets.
