Fitz Roy Cabernet Sauvignon

Fitz Roy Cabernet Sauvignon

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The winemaker for this wine is Invina Wines, which is owned by the Huber family, with more than 20 years of experience in Chilean viticulture and wine.
  • This Carmenere is sourced from two section of Invina Batuco vineyard in the Maule Valley of Chile.
  • The Carmenere grape with black fruit, herbal notes and soft tannins is blended with Cabernet Sauvignon to add a spicy red fruit characteristic, and Syrah to include notes of red licorice.

Varietal Composition: 85% Carmenere, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah

Elaboration: Alluvial granite soils located close to the ocean. Mornings bring fog and mountains bring cold air in evenings. Yields are 50 hl/ha or less. Manual picking in small boxes, double selection, (once in the vineyard and once at the winery) and then grapes chilled before crushing. Maceration on skins 35 days. Aged 10 months in used oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Dark ruby in color. Bright aromas of blackberry leading to a palate of roasted nuts and chocolate, and spicy berries. Graceful tannins give this Cabernet a beautiful finish.
