Fontella Chianti

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • One of the best value’s we have seen coming out of Chianti for the past few years!
  • Thanks to its acidity, it is a perfect match with rich, fatty dishes.

Varietal Composition: Mostly Sangiovese with a little Canaiolo

Elaboration: The grapes are de-stemmed and soft crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperatures for around 8-10 days. Frequent remontage occurs throughout fermentation in order to extract color and achieve soft tannins. Malolactic fermentation is carried out. The juice is left in contact with the skins for 15 days then three month of aging in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Ruby red in color with notes of cherries and spice rounded out with purple flowers. This wine is medium bodied with attractive lingering finish.
