Gen5 Cabernet Sauvignon

GEN5 Cabernet Sauvignon

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Wonderful 25 year-old estate vines.
  • Incredible price/quality.
  • Sustainably farmed.

Varietal Composition: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon; 2% Petite Verdot; 2% Petit Sirah; 1% Teroldego

Elaboration:  The GEN5 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a collaboration between LangeTwins Winery and and Trellis Wine Group partner, Vino del Sol. The winemakers are Karen Birmingham and David Akiyoshi. The grapes come from Estate vineyards in Lodi, California. As the day’s temperature rises, cool breezes drift in from the Delta, keeping the night cool which is ideal for the development of complexity in finished wines. Well-drained rich mineral soils, sandy to clay loam.  The average age of the vines is 27 years. The grapes are fermented 12 days at 84F and the wine undergoes extended maceration on skins up to 30 days to maximize varietal expression. 100% malolactic fermentation. Agins is 8 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak.

TASTING NOTES: Juicy red and black fruit flavors that is well-balanced and textured and soft on the palate.
