Jean Laurent Blanc De Noirs Brut

Champagne Jean Laurent Blanc De Noirs

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Laurent family is one of the oldest wine makers in the region. The Jean Laurent house has been producing quality Champagne wines for three generations in accordance with the terroir, using traditional methods.
  • They believe in sustainable agriculture and limit/adapt treatments following the evolution of the land’s needs.

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

Elaboration: Blanc de Noirs cuvée is made from Pinot Noir grapes, blended from 5 vintages and aged a minimum of 30 months on the lees. This full-bodied Champagne reflects the land through its aromas and vinosity.

Tasting Notes: The nose is powerful and expressive, with notes of yellow fruit, mirabelle plum, peach, and white fruit compote. On the palate, this Champagne is generous, full bodied, with some hints of white fruit. The finish is thirst-quenching, with light wooded and licorice notes , and touches of milk caramel.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Jean Laurent Champagnes are produced from organic, estate-grown grapes. Varieties grown on the 16 hectares include Pinot Noir (70%), Chardonnay (30%), Pinot Blanc (10%). Clay-limestone Kimmeridgian soil dominates the area, which has been used as a vineyard for more than 2,000 years.

The winery practices sustainable agriculture with limited treatments and no glyphosate or pesticides. Vinification relies on classic methods such as alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. Patience (in place of heating-and-cooling technologies) allows for the wines to fully develop.
