Leogate La Perouse

Leogate Gatecrasher La Perouse Cabernet Merlot

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • The Gatecrasher La Perouse is a great example of a French style of wine.
  • The wine drinks well now or gain rewarding bottle age complexity with careful cellaring up to 10 years.

Varietal Composition: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot

Elaboration: The La Perouse is sourced from 20-year-old vines planted by using the VSP (vertical shoot positioning) trellis design on a combination fertile red clay and chocolate clay/loam soils with drip irrigation installed on each vine row. The vineyard yield is 2.5 tons per acre or equivalent to 6 tons per hectare. It is matured on French oak in a variety of vessels for a period of 14 months.

Tasting Notes: The La Perouse Cabernet Merlot has a fragrant bouquet of black and red currants with spice and cedary notes. The wine displays a delightfully rounded palate offering a generous mix of red and blue fruits balanced by fine silky tannins.
