PRODUCER BACKGROUND

Berlin Kelly founded Proud Pour in 2014 as a way to connect her passion for high-quality, sustainable foods and wines with her concern for the environment. She had begun creating fermented beverages as part of New York City’s Homebrewer’s Guild, and the light bulb went off one evening when she was drinking wine, eating oysters, and watching ShellShocked, a documentary about the oyster’s decline and efforts in New York to restore it. Soon after, Proud Pour was born.

Proud Pour works with exceptional winemakers to bring you high quality, sustainable drinks that fund local environmental restoration. When you buy a bottle of Umpqua Valley Pinot Noir, 875 wildflowers are planted on farms to provide 90 sq ft of bee habitat and forage. Did you know bees pollinate one-third of the food we eat? Pollinating alongside the European honeybee are 3,600 other bee species native to North America, and like the honeybee, they’re in trouble. Threats to native bees include pesticide use, disease, and, critically, a lack of wildflowers and habitat. To date sales of Pinot Noir have helped plant 68 acres of bee habitat.
