WHY WE LOVE IT
- Dr. Wolfe’s Family Red is the signature red blend of Thurston Wolfe Winery.
- The Lemberger is the the secret (shhh) to this layered blend. It adds light spicy hints which elevates the entirety of the blend creating something only capable of the Yakima Valley’s growing region.
- The Zinfandel and Petite Sirah are from Zephyr Ridge Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills and the Lemberger is from the Crawford Vineyard in Yakima Valley.
Varietal Composition: 62% Zinfandel 29% Petit Sirah 9% Lemberger
Elaboration: The fruit was harvested individually, fermented in small open-top fermenters, and blended and aged in a mixture of French and American oak for 18 months.
Tasting Notes: Dark fruit aromas as well as a peppery spices. Flavors of blackberry, leather, and currants. This wine is dark, spicy and full-bodied.

PRODUCER BACKGROUND
Thurston Wolfe is a small family winery owned by Wade Wolfe and Becky Yeaman, specializing in unique red & white table and dessert wines. Grapes are sourced from growers located in the Horse Heaven Hills and Yakima Valley AVA’s at sites best suited to the individual varieties. These sites and grower relationships were developed through Wade’s extensive contacts and knowledge of the region dating back to the late 1970’s.
Thurston Wolfe’s grape sourcing is based on Wade’s 40 years experience working with Washington State’s grape growers and vineyards. As the grape buyer first for Ste. Michelle in the 1980’s and later at Hogue Cellars in the 1990’s, he gained invaluable knowledge about the growing regions as well as the skill of the growers and quality of fruit.
