Saumur les pouches blanc

Vignerons de Saumur Blanc “Les Pouches”

WHY WE LOVE IT

  • Soil with clayey and silty sands. Several hard limestone rocks underlie the Méron slopes up to the fault of the Loudunais.
  • This particular soil and subsoil has good draining capacity and early ripening potential.
  • The grapes grow on vines with an average age of 45 years.

Varietal Composition: 100% Chenin Blanc

Elaboration: After crushing and destemming, the grapes of Chenin were pressed. Fermentation at low temperature (17 to 19° C) during 2 weeks. Cold setting for 24 hours. Aging in stainless steel tanks on fine lees for 3 to 4 months. Bottled in cellars dug out of tufa, it continues to age in bottle in these ideal and natural conditions.

Tasting Notes: Pale gold with touches of silver. Suave nose of ripe fruit, William pear and white peach, with a touch of honey-sweet acacia-lime flowers and a hint of flintiness.
